Quarter Million Milestone Celebration
The StringsforaCURE® Foundation is going to be celebrating reaching a major milestone by the end of 2017 – a Quarter Million Milestone. That is $250,000 in financial aid provided to breast cancer patients in just 7 short years. In celebration, StringsforaCURE will be hosting a Happy Hour at Brewerie on Wednesday, December 6 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. There will be live music by Sam Hyman, 2 very large raffle baskets, a silent auction and a quilt raffle.
The silent auction will be a 16” x 24” canvas print of this poignant and emotion-filled photograph created and donated by local photographer Christine Erin. Christine is a mother of 4 beautiful children, wife of 24 years to an amazing husband, a gifted photographer and artist and a breast cancer survivor.
Christine had originally planned to title this image “Finding Hope” but then decided that it would just be called “Untitled” because every person has their own journey with cancer. In this photo, there is a beautiful flower growing from a crack in the concrete floor, which signifies defying the odds. The open window symbolizes a passageway out of the darkness. She hoped that she would defy the odds and escape from the darkness which enveloped her. She hoped his would all happen in good time, but waiting was the most difficult. Christine remains hopeful today that she now has her life back and is getting healthy and strong again. And this is her journey through breast cancer.
Board member Brenda Berchtold’s cousin Julie Sadowski created this beautiful quilt and donated it to StringsforaCURE so that we could raise funds for our Programs. Tickets are a $5 donation to StringsforaCURE and can be purchased at this link: http://bit.ly/1L1FSm2 You can see the quilt at Lori Miller’s Serendipity Consignment Boutique in North East, PA and it will also be on display at The Brewerie At Union Station the night of our Quarter Million Milestone Celebration.
