Paul Goll, of Donnie Iris and The Cruisers, guitar string cross made from Paul’s used/played guitar strings. Cross is designed by 2x breast cancer survivor Elisa Guida. Cross is app. 2 ” L x 1 ” W and contains sterling silver wrapped wire. Comes with a 16, 18, 20, 22 or 24″ finished leather chord with lobster clasp. About The Musician:
Paul Goll is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania and has been playing bass guitar professionally since age 15. Paul’s playing is heavily influenced by the major rock bands of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, as well as major artists and composers from jazz and 
classical music. The bass players that have been the template for Paul’s bass style are Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, James Jamerson, and Jaco Pastorius.
Early in Paul’s musical career, he met Marty Lee and they played in several Erie bands together. They shared many adventures and musical experiences, which laid the foundation for an enduring friendship. In the late 70s, Paul and Marty chose different paths. Marty went on to eventually join “The Cruisers,” and Paul eventually joined a rock band named Powerglide, which made Boston its home. Powerglide enjoyed regional success and proved to offer a great learning experience in songwriting, recording, showcasing, and touring. Paul left the band in 1991 and returned to Erie to reunite with his family and friends, and to become active again in the Erie music scene.
The return to Erie also made it possible for Paul to take advantage of an opportunity to join “The Cruisers” and reunite with Marty Lee. This was a chance for Paul to join an exceptional band, which left a lasting impression on him when he saw them live during the “High and the Mighty” tour at the Paradise Club in Boston in the early 80s. After a short time with “The Cruisers,” Paul realized that this band was a close-knit group of friends and families that was a perfect fit for him.
The return to Erie also caused Paul to reflect on his need to find a way to serve society. A college education was essential for this goal and Paul began by seeking a music education degree. Halfway through this process, Paul decided his goal would be best met by becoming a social worker and therapist. In 2001, Paul moved to Pittsburgh to attend the School of Social Work at The University of Pittsburgh. His education and internship experiences prepared him for work with children and families.
In 2005, Paul received a master’s degree in social work and became a licensed clinical social worker. He then began working for Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic as a therapeutic support staff member for children with Autism, and then as a family therapist for WPIC family-based services. All the while he remained active as a musician in the Erie and Pittsburgh areas.
In 2010 Paul moved to Asheville NC to pursue a job offer, which then led to a great opportunity to serve children with autism and their families where he currently works at the Olson Huff Center at Mission Children’s Hospital. Throughout this journey Paul has remained as the bassist with Donnie Iris for over 25 years and regularly travels to the Pittsburgh/Ohio area for shows.
